Bio

Mary graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2014. She has been a practicing physiotherapist since March 2014 at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, in Edmonton, in spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, and general neurology. When not at the Glenrose, Mary works with various sports teams, including, rugby, football, and hockey. She has extensive experience as an OSCE examiner, working closely with the University of Alberta’s physiotherapy graduate program and Bridging Program, and has been an examiner for the National Practical Exam.

Mary is very passionate about helping to ensure that Canada has strong, capable, and respected physiotherapists. She mentors University of Alberta graduate students and Bridging Program students, and looks for every opportunity to teach and challenge future physiotherapists to find their passion, and develop into strong practitioners, who always strive to excel in their area and be lifelong learners.

Dean has been a practicing physiotherapist since November 2014 at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and has acquired experience in the areas of geriatric inpatient, stroke and brain injury, orthopedic inpatients and spinal cord injury. Dean has worked extensively with the University of Alberta as both a standardized patient and examiner for their various school, and bridging program practical exams. Patrick Quimio

Instructor, MScPT

Bio

Patrick completed his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto in 2019, after finishing his Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba in 2017. Since then, he has continued to improve his clinical practice with continuing education courses like: spinal manipulation, acupuncture, dry needling, and completing both upper and lower Level 3 courses from the Orthopaedic Division. He is currently enrolled in Western University's Master of Clinical Science in Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and is the Chair for the Executive Committee of the BC Orthopaedic Division. With continued interest in evolving his clinical care, richer and more comprehensive teaching can transpire.

Since graduating, Patrick has been heavily involved in teaching across the country in various ways: mentoring UofT new grads since 2020; clinical instructing for the UofM MPT program with a total of 5 clinical placements; clinically instructing for UBC internships; and has a clinical faculty appointment with the UBC MPT program at the rank of Clinical Instructor. One technique he uses often is self-reflection: at the end of a patient interaction, end of a day, or end of a week, a question of "what were 3 things I did well today" and "what were 3 things I can improve upon" are asked. The combination of self-reflection and guidance and feedback from myself as a teacher will create a solid foundation to help you pass your licensing exams!
